France has an enormous variety of ski resorts to suit beginner to advanced skiers. There are those suited to families with young children and those suited to groups of friends in search of good slopes and good aprés ski. The famous resorts of Meribel, Chamonix and Courchevel attract thousands of skiers each winter. Courchevel is the glamorous heart of Les Trois Vallées but Les Saisies, while not a big name resort, is one of our favourites for family ski holidays. If your group includes some non-skiers, or if you would like a change from a conventional day on the slopes, most resorts offer other activities such as snow shoeing, ice skating, dog sledding, walks between villages and much more. For the very adventurous, guided ski randonnée (off piste cross country skiing) and heli-skiing are available in most places.
